H.E. Chea Chanto, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia led the delegation to join the World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings 2016 in Washington, D.C. USA in October 4-9, 2016. The meetings were organized with back-to-back workshops on important topics which relate to global and regional economic and financial development, advancement of technology, income inequality, fiscal, monetary and financial policies and main challenges.
H.E. Governor and delegation also participated in Joint Governors and Finance Ministers Meeting of the IMF-WB Southeast Asia Constituency to discuss, and exchange view on global situation, regional challenges, and policies that SEAV Group member states should implement in order to support economic development and maintain financial stability.
Besides, NBC’s delegation also met with several departments of the IMF who are in charge of Cambodia including Asia and Pacific Department and Monetary and Capital Markets Department to brief economic and banking sector development, challenges, and needed technical assistances from the IMF. In overall, the IMF highly appreciates Cambodian economic and banking sector development, and expressed its continuous support to Cambodia by providing technical assistance on human resource development and monitor Cambodia macroeconomic development.
