On Thursday, March 23th 2023, H.E Chea Chanto, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia hosted a meeting with the World Bank Treasury’s delegation from the RAMP program (Reserve Advisory and Management Partnership) led by Mr. Heung Sik Choo, Senior Adviser at Asset Management and Advisory.
The World Bank Treasury’s team highlighted the notable progress made by the NBC reserve management team as the NBC’s system, process and human resources develop in line with internationally recognized standard for central bank reserve management . The World Bank team also commended the NBC for developing into one of most sophisticated reserve manager among the RAMP’s seventy central bank members, often cited as a developmental success story and a role model to emulate. H.E Governor appreciate the contribution and close cooperation that experts at the World Bank provided for the past 15 years and which will continue as NBC reserve management capability continues to develop. The meeting discussed challenges of investing in current financial market condition and measures taken to ensure effective risk management and building a resilient yet optimal reserve portfolio.
The NBC has been a member of the RAMP program since 2008, under which the bank was able to receive needed advisory and capacity building support to build up reserve management capacity to be in line with international best practices and standards.
