On 7 July, 2016, the IMF Article IV Mission Team, led by Ms. Sonali Jain-Chandra, has the honor of paying a courtesy call on H.E. Chea Chanto, the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia at the esteemed Bank. During the talk, H.E. Governor has kindly briefed the Team about the progress and challenges of Cambodia’s economy and financial sector, and, at the same time, has sought the IMF’s possibility to continue providing technical assistance in support of Cambodia’s economic development. In responds, the Mission Team has highly evaluated the progress of the Nation’s economy and the rapid development of banking sector in Cambodia. Also, they have supported the policies set by the NBC so far. Ms. Sonali has pointed out that the NBC has always done her utmost and been able to mitigate risks in the banking system as well as to boost the development of this sector, contributing to the Country’s economic growth. In short, the IMF has positively shown their stand in extending further technical assistance to Cambodia.
