On 02 June 2017, H.E. Neav Chanthana, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, has participated in Client Protection Principles Dissemination Workshop 2017 under a theme "Pathway to Certificate under Client Protection Framework 2.0" organized by the Cambodia Microfinance Association. This workshop is a part of the Smart Campaign funded by the French Development Agency. The Smart Campaign has persuaded all Microfinance Institutions to adopt transparency in setting the interest rate and financial products, to ethically collect the debt, and to provide a complaint mechanism for clients. H.E. Neav Chanthana has further encouraged Microfinance Institutions to comply with the principles of the Smart Campaign in addition to the existing consumer protection regulations set by the National Bank of Cambodia. Furthermore, the National Bank of Cambodia will continue enhancing financial literacy in order to effectively protect the financial consumers.
