On October 18, 2017, H.E Chea Serey, Director General of Central Banking of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) had a meeting with the Payment Committee of the Association of Bank in Cambodia and representatives of Payment Service Provider. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the Bakong Project which is the new initiative of the NBC with regard to the case study of the possibility in introducing electronic money for inter-bank payment transaction.
