H.E. Serey Chea is attending FinTech conference organized by IMF-OAP, the Financial Services Agency of Japan (JFSA), and the Bank of Japan in Tokyo, Japan on April 16, 2018. The conference was attended by 400 people from various backgrounds in the region ranging from regulators, financial institutions, FinTech companies and academics, and media. H.E. Serey Chea was invited to present the case of Cambodia in using FinTech to promote financial inclusion. Cambodia has made progress in promoting financial inclusion through the usage of new technology particularly those of mobile remittance and payment service in the past 5 years, but consumer protection, AML/CFT, cyber securities are areas that need further work and cooperation amongst various regulators within the countries, while information sharing on best practices amongst regulators in the region are needed.
