On June 28th, 2018 at the National Institute of Education, H.E. Chea Serey, Director General of Central Banking and also the representative of H.E. Chea Chanto, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, attends the official launching ceremony of “National Syllabuses for all Subjects and Grade Levels”. The event is presided over by His Excellency Bandith Sapheachar Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. On this occasion, H.E. Chea Serey receives National Syllabus for five subjects namely Mathematics, Home Economics, Social Study, Moral Civic and Life Skills, all of which financial literacy are embedded under the two institutions’ cooperation.
Having seen the importance of financial literacy in responsible financial access and usage that can help improve people living standard and national economy, the National Bank of Cambodia and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport have been working together to integrate financial literacy into general school curriculum from grade 1-12 since 2016. The two parties have identified and revised the most relevant subjects together. Moving forward, the National Bank of Cambodia will continue to assist the Ministry in textbooks writing and teacher training to ensure effective implementation.
