On 19 February 2021, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) with the support from VISA organized the forum on “Financial Literacy: Technology Use and Financial Safety” at University of Kratie, Kratie Province. This forum was presided over by H.E. Koung Sorita, Deputy Secretary of State, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and participated by H.E. Kham Sopheap, Deputy Governor of Kratie Province, H.E. Soth Sithon, Advisor to MoWA, Mr. Em Kamnan, Director of Regulatory Policy and Risk Assessment Department and the Head of Working Group of Financial Education of the National Bank of Cambodia, and H.E. Dr. Ngy Laymithuna, Rector of the University of Kratie.
This forum was organized to raise awareness and promote financial literacy to university students on financial management, business, and the use of formal financial services with the help of digital systems to reduce financial burden on the family, and to cultivate business ideas for young people, especially women in the local area. This forum was attended by 80 participants including from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the National Bank of Cambodia, Department of Women’s Affairs in Kratie, Women’s Development Centre, lecturers and students from the University of Kratie, and relevant parties.
