On Friday, March 3, 2023, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Assistant Governor and Director General of the National Bank of Cambodia, was invited to be the keynote speaker on the topic of "The Importance of The Currency" to 300 students and professors from Buddhist universities at the Chaktomuk Conference Hall. On that occasion, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey also addressed on the women's empowerment as the International Women's Day on March 8 is approaching.
During her speech, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey has shared on the history and the significance of the Khmer riel, as well as the measures taken by the Royal Government and the National Bank of Cambodia to promote the use of the Khmer riel.
Through the presentation on "The Importance of The Currency", students and participants have gained a better understanding that the use of riel will enhance monetary and political efficiency and strengthen sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as promote our economic growth, development and national pride.
