On 19th September 2024, The National Bank of Cambodia and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) launched the cross-border QR Payment linkage between Cambodia and Malaysia. The event were presided over by H.E Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia and Dato’ Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia. Under this linkage, consumers and merchants in both countries will be able to make and receive instant cross-border QR payments. The QR payment linkage initiative will enable over 5 million merchants in Cambodia and Malaysia, primarily small businesses, to access a wider customer base from both countries.
