H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), attended as a panelist in a discussion in the G20 Event organized by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) at the Headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)

H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), attended as a panelist in a discussion on “The future of cross-border payments: faster, safer, together” in the G20 Event organized by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) on October 22, 2024 at the Headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C., United States. 
 
The panel discussion was also attended by other speakers who are prominent leaders in the world’s financial sector, including H.E. Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank (ECB); H.E. Fabio Panetta, Governor of the Bank of Italy and Chair of the BIS Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI); and H.E. Lesetjia Kganyago, Governor of the South African Reserve Bank. 
 
In the event, H.E. Governor shared NBC’s experience in response to actual challenges in connecting cross-border payments with some countries and plans for expanding connectivity with countries in the region and the world as well as strengthening cooperation with relevant stakeholders. She also indicated the significance of cross-border payments in assisting e-commerce, facilitating payments for foreign tourists and investors and promoting financial inclusion.
