The National Bank of Cambodia organized a bilateral meeting between the National Bank of Cambodia and the State Bank of Vietnam under the high presidency of H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and H.E. Nguyen Thi Hong, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, on 25 August 2025 in Phnom Penh. The 2025 annual meeting was convened with the objective of strengthening friendship and expanding cooperation between the two central banks, aiming to contribute to the development of the banking sector in both countries.

During the meeting, the management of the two central banks exchanged views on the economic situation, monetary policy, and banking sector developments in own respective countries. The meeting also reached agreements on cooperation for 2025–2026, which include: i/- Expanding bilateral cross-boarder payment by encouraging greater participation of banking and financial institutions; ii/- Promoting the use of national currencies (the Khmer riel and the Vietnamese dong) for cross-border transactions between the peoples of both countries; and iii/- Enhancing the role of banking and financial institutions in contributing to the economic and financial development of both nations.

Overall, Both central banks highly valued the outcomes of this year’s bilateral meeting, which concluded in a spirit of strong friendship and close cooperation.
