H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, was invited to join the panel discussion on “Central Bank Role in Financial Literacy, Financial Inclusion and digital transformation at the Banking Submit Asia hosted by the Financial Times, held on September 11, 2025, in Hong Kong, China.

 

Addressing senior executives from leading banks across Asia, H.E.Dr. Chea Serey shared Cambodia’s experience in broadening access to financial services as a developing country. She emphasized the vital role of formal financial services in improving livelihoods, particularly in rural areas.

 

H.E.Dr. Chea Serey also highlighted the success of the Bakong Payment success, which has enabled Cambodia to transition from traditional cash-based payments to modern, technology-driven solutions, thereby fostering financial inclusion and advancing digital banking services.

 

Her remarks further drew the attention of major institutional investors, underlining the growing  investment potential in Cambodia
