H.E.Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, welcomed Mr. Takeshi Kito, Co-Founder and CEO of the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) of Japan, and his colleagues for a courtesy call and discussion on the evening of October 17, 2025, at the National Bank of Cambodia, Wat Phnom Building.
During the meeting, Mr. Takeshi Kito, who also serves as a member of Japan’s Regulatory Sandbox Committee, shared the main objectives of his two-day visit to Cambodia, expressing his interest in learning about the evolution of the country’s financial technology sector and exploring potential avenues for future cooperation.
In response, H.E. Governor highlighted Cambodia’s significant progress in financial technology development, particularly the success of the Bakong payment system, which has become a model for fintech innovation in many countries. She also emphasized the strong cooperation between Cambodia and Japan in developing digital financial infrastructure and encouraged further exploration of opportunities to expand this collaboration.
