H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), received a delegation from the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) for a courtesy meeting on the afternoon of December 2, 2025, at the NBC headquarters.
The delegation was led by H.E. Ted Osius, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director of US-ABC, accompanied by diplomatic representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh. The visit aimed to gain a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s economic progress and the potential for expanded investment in the financial sector, with a view to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The discussion underscored the significance of the recently concluded Cambodia–U.S. trade agreement and the ongoing efforts to promote transparency, financial integrity, and a supportive investment environment to encourage increased U.S. investment in Cambodia. H.E. Ted Osius highlighted the favorable conditions fostered by the Royal Government of Cambodia’s pro-business policies under the leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and noted the warm welcome and encouragement for open dialogue received from Samdach Thipadei. Representatives from major U.S. companies operating in Cambodia, who were part of the US-ABC delegation, also provided updates on their current operations and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding their activities, particularly in the financial sector.
The delegation expressed appreciation to the NBC for its continued cooperation and support. H.E. the Governor extended a warm welcome to the US-ABC delegation and shared an overview of Cambodia’s economic development, including its historical foundations and recent progress. She emphasized the importance of maintaining open dialogue with all development partners, including U.S. investors.
H.E. the Governor also highlighted the successful development of Cambodia’s Bakong payment system through close collaboration with the private sector, a key achievement that demonstrates the potential for further cooperation in FinTech and innovation. Both sides exchanged perspectives on Cambodia’s economic landscape, emerging challenges, and outlook, reaffirming their commitment to continued engagement and strengthened cooperation.
