H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, met with the delegation of the Central Bank of China, Guangxi Autonomous Region Branch, led by Chairman Chen Jinxiang, on 9 December 2025 at the National Bank of Cambodia, Wat Phnom Headquarters.
The purpose of the meeting was to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and reinforce the long-term partnership between the two central banks. Discussions focused on key topics such as cross-border payment connectivity, financial innovations, and exploring new areas of collaboration. During the meeting, Chairman Chen Jinxiang praised Cambodia’s development, particularly the launch of Techo International Airport. He also commended the strong cooperation with the National Bank of Cambodia in recent years and expressed his intention to expand collaboration, especially in the area of credit information sharing.
In response, the Governor welcomed the plan to expand cooperation and highlighted the progress Cambodia has achieved with potential partner countries regarding credit information sharing. In addition, she expressed appreciation to the Central Bank of China, Guangxi Autonomous Region Branch, for supporting the inclusion of the Khmer riel in the foreign exchange list in the Guangxi Autonomous Region, promoting the use of national currencies in bilateral trade, and connecting cross-border payment systems.
Following the meeting, the Governor also agreed the delegation to hold detailed discussions with the working group of the National Bank of Cambodia on several important topics.
