The National Bank of Cambodia organized the 2025 Annual Bilateral Meeting with the Bank of the Lao PDR under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and H.E. Bounkham Vorachit, Governor of the Bank of Lao PDR, on 19 December 2025 in Phnom Penh.
The meeting aimed to strengthen and expand cooperation between the two central banks in order to further develop and enhance the banking sectors of both countries.
Senior officials from both central banks exchanged views on macroeconomic conditions, the implementation of monetary policy, developments in the banking sector, and the management of exchange rates in both countries. In addition, both sides reviewed and assessed the progress of past bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on the notable advancement of cross-border payment systems between the two countries, as well as priority initiatives for continued cooperation in the coming year.
Following the meeting, the Governors of both central banks presided over the official launch of Phase II of Cross-Border QR Code Payments between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation between Credit Bureau Cambodia (CBC) and the Lao Credit Information Company (LCIC).
