H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, welcomes the visit of the delegation from the Bank of Papua New Guinea, led by H.E. Elizabeth Genia, Governor of the Bank of Papua New Guinea, on 14 January 2026 at the National Bank of Cambodia, Wat Phnom Building. The visit aimed to exchange experiences on Cambodia’s banking system management, the development of digital payment systems, and the promotion of financial inclusion.

During the meeting, H.E. Elizabeth Genia expressed her sincere appreciation for the warm welcome extended by the National Bank of Cambodia and commended Cambodia’s remarkable progress in digital payment systems. She emphasized the importance of strengthening interbank payment systems, highlighting Cambodia’s successful achievements, and underscored the value of experience-sharing and best practices from the National Bank of Cambodia.

On this occasion, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey warmly welcomed the delegation and shared insights on the increasing number of study visits by central banks in recent years. She highlighted Cambodia’s significant progress in advancing financial inclusion following the implementation of the interbank payment system, which has received high recognition from international institutions for its role in supporting daily life and business activities.

Overall, both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. Following the meeting, the delegation from the Bank of Papua New Guinea also visited the Preah Srey Ishanavarman Museum, which showcases the history of Cambodia’s economy and monetary system from the first century to the present day.
